Psykolog til børn og unge
Børn og unge kan også have gavn af professionel hjælp. Her gennemgår vi hvornår det er relevant at opsøge en børnepsykolog, og hvilke muligheder der findes i Danmark.
When should your child see a psychologist?
Typical signs include persistent sadness, anxiety, behavioral changes, school refusal, sleep problems, social withdrawal, or reactions to divorce and loss. Children often express psychological distress differently than adults — through behavior, stomachaches, or anger rather than words.
Free help through PPR
Children and adolescents under 18 can receive free psychological help through PPR (Educational Psychological Counseling) in your municipality. PPR offers assessment and counseling for children with well-being issues, learning difficulties, and social challenges. Contact your child's school or municipality for a referral.
Private child psychologists
If you want faster access or a specific specialist, you can choose a private psychologist specializing in children and adolescents. The price is typically 900-1,500 DKK per session. Some health insurance plans cover child psychologists. The national health insurance subsidy only applies to adults over 18 with a referral.
What can you do as parents?
Be open and listen. Talk to your child about how it's normal and brave to seek help. Child psychologists often involve parents in the treatment. Prepare your child for what will happen — that it's a conversation, not a test. Young children often use play and drawing as part of therapy.
